Ramos Takes Championship Field MVP Honors with Discus, Shot Put Titles

VERMILLION, S.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team finished second at the Summit League Outdoor Championships Saturday, ending a streak of 14 consecutive outdoor team titles for the Bison.
 
South Dakota State scored 197 points to win its first Summit League outdoor title. The Bison finished second with 173 points, and South Dakota was third with 157.
 
The NDSU men captured three individual event titles on Saturday, headlined by Championships Field MVP Zack Ramos winning both the discus and shot put.
 
Ramos threw a career-best 182-3 (55.57m) to take first in the discus and rank fourth-best in NDSU history. He also claimed the league shot put title with a throw of 58-2 (17.73m).
 
Bison freshman Reece Grosserode won the triple jump with a mark of 49-04.25 (15.04m).
 
Jayden Williams took Summit League runner-up honors in the long jump with a personal-best 25-01.25 (7.65m), and Hunter Merkley placed third with a PR of 24-10 (7.57m). Williams now stands at No. 4 on the NDSU all-time list.
 
NDSU's Kaden Pastian was the runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 58-00.50 (17.69m).
 
Blake Nyenati (13.62) placed third in the 110m hurdles, Brooks Turner (13.80) took fifth, and Brock Johnsen (13.96) finished sixth. Nyenati's 13.62 is a new school record, breaking Turner's mark of 13.65.
 
Sophomore Carlton Mukurazita took third place in the triple jump, leaping 48-05.50 (14.77m). Lorenzo Andrews claimed eighth with a personal-best 47-03.75 (14.42m).
 
Williams, Jayden Murdock, Tyler Milkes and Turner placed fourth in the 4x100m relay, clocking 40.62. They now stand seventh on the NDSU all-time list.
 
Ethan Moe placed fourth in the 1500m, crossing the line in 3:48.99.
 
Carter Elde took fifth place in the 400m hurdles, clocking a season-best 53.72. Jonah Dafoe placed fifth in the 800m final, running 1:52.14.
 
Senior Hunter Klimek finished fifth in the 3000m steeplechase in a season-best 9:11.38.
 
Freshman Aiden Krause placed sixth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 167-2 (50.97m), and Pastian took seventh at 166-0 (50.60m).
 
Jacob Van Dusseldorp cleared 16-06.75 (5.05m) for sixth in the pole vault. Andrew Berg and Zach McGlynn tied for sixth in the high jump, clearing 6-7 (2.01m).
 
Jacob Knodle finished sixth in the 5,000m in 14:37.91.
 
Freshman Tyler Milkes placed sixth in the 100m dash in 10.61.
 
The Bison men have now won 15 of the 17 outdoor team trophies since joining the league in 2008.
