Darcy Byrne

Darcy Byrne returns to the Bison coaching staff in 2024 for the NDSU Softball program. Byrne has worked with NDSU in two previous stints as a volunteer assistant and pitching coach, most recently in 2018.
 
Byrne, who is in his seventh season with the Bison overall, brings a wealth of international pitching experience to the diamond. Prior to the 2018 season, Byrne worked with the Bison from 2007-11. Byrne has helped coach the Bison to six Summit League conference titles, including two regular season and four tournament championships.
 
Byrne was recently inducted into the North Dakota Softball Hall of Fame in April of 2022. A six-time North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) All-World team selection, Byrne was a member of the bronze medalist Junior Canadian National Team. He played in Australia for three years, earning MVP honors and starring for the national champions.
 
A member of the NAFA All-Decade team, Byrne played on three Canadian national champion teams, a trio of International Softball Congress (ISC) national title squads (including a 19-under team) and one Canadian Senior national championship team. Byrne was twice named the ISC 23-under top pitcher. He was named the MVP of one Canadian national championship and was a two-time all-Canadian national pick.
