FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State softball recorded 12 hits, including a grand slam and a two-run home run, to secure a run-rule victory over South Dakota State, topping the Jackrabbits 13-4 in five innings at Tharaldson Park.

Mya Boos broke a 4-4 tie in the second inning with her second grand slam of the season and the Bison never looked back, scoring 10 unanswered runs to rally for a second-straight win to claim the series victory against South Dakota State.

NDSU jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning, beginning with a Lileigh Nieto bases loaded walk. Bella Dean then scored on a failed pickoff attempt, before Zoe King recorded an RBI single.

South Dakota State responded with a four-run second inning. However, Nieto started the scoring again for the Bison in the bottom of the second with a RBI single with the bases loaded. Boos then broke the tie with her seventh home run of the season, tied for the team lead.

After Taylinn Warren stole home to close the scoring in the second inning, Jessica Delatorre jump started the Bison offense in the third, smashing her sixth home run of the season well beyond the fence in left to extend the lead to 11-4. NDSU continued to roll offensively, as Warren hit an RBI single later in the inning and King capped the scoring with her second RBI single of the game.

King led the Bison with three hits, going 3-for-3 with the two RBI. Boos and Warren each had two hits in the game. Boos led the Bison with four RBI, while Delatorre and Nieto joined King with two each.

In the circle, Madison Wihlm picked up her ninth win of the season, going five innings with three strikeouts, allowing just two hits outside of the four-run second for SDSU.

With the win, the Bison secure a series victory over the Jackrabbits with the third and final game of the weekend, along with the season finale, set for Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., following senior day, at Tharaldson Park.
