Kansas Completes Three-Game Sweep of North Dakota State

LAWRENCE, Kan.--Kansas exploded for 22 hits and capped a three-game sweep of North Dakota State with a 17-2 win Sunday, March 13, at Hoglund Ballpark.
Jayhawk outfielder Brock Simpson was 3-for-3 off the bench and missed hitting for the cycle by a single as KU (16-8) rapped out 10 extra-base hits including home runs by Simpson, A.J. Van Slyke and Mike Dudley.
Kansas pitchers held North Dakota State (0-10-1) to seven hits.
Bison catcher Kole Zimmerman was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while infielder Charles Magedanz was 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to six games.
Freshman pitcher Jake Laber (0-2) lost his second decision in three starts. Laber allowed five earned runs on five hits and three walks in 2 1/3 innings.
KU starter Kodiak Quick (6-1) won for the second time in the series. He pitched five scoreless innings and scattered three hits after earning a win out of the bullpen in Friday's first game.
North Dakota State is scheduled to continue its 11-game, 13-day road swing at Kansas State on Monday, March 14. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Tointon Stadium in Manhattan, Kan.
