Bison Women Record Strong Performances at SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team captured three event titles and capped the SDSU Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational with a victory in the 4x400m relay on Saturday afternoon at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
NDSU's Amy Andrushko claimed the 800m title, winning in 2:13.12, while her fellow sophomore Jenny Guibert finished second in 2:14.19.
Bison sophomore Katelyn Weimerskirch won the indoor discus title on Friday evening, throwing 163-0 (49.68m).
Deidre Hahn, Melissa Kitching, Ashley Heinze and Rose Jackson clocked 3:47.45 to win the 4x400m relay in the day's final event.
Jackson, a sophomore from Willmar, Minn., clocked 7.73 in the 60m dash, tying her for No. 8 all-time at NDSU in the event. She placed fourth in the meet, while Hahn took seventh in 7.80 seconds.
The Bison women finished 2-3-5 in both the shot put and weight throw. Senior Emily Lesser took runner-up honors in the shot put with a toss of 49-10.50 (15.20m), redshirt freshman Courtney Pasiowitz was third at 46-11.00 (14.30m), and true freshman Kelsey Laufenberg finished fifth with a mark of 46-08.75 (14.24m).
In the weight throw, Weimerskirch took second, Lesser placed third, and Pasiowitz was fifth.
Senior Maddie Van Beek was the runner-up in the mile, crossing the line in 4:52.40.
One week after setting a new personal-best mark in the pole vault, Anna Benke cleared the second-best height of her career – 12-11.50 (3.95m) for second place. Former NDSU All-American Leslie Brost cleared 14-02.00 (4.32m) for the win.
Former Bison All-American Ashley Tingelstad won the 400m dash by two seconds, finishing in 54.03. NDSU freshman Alexis Woods placed eighth in 57.74.
Sophomore Allie Lahren was fourth in the long jump with a mark of 18-04.50 (5.60m), only one centimeter short of matching her indoor PR. Lexy Boschee took sixth in the 60m hurdles at 9.18 seconds.
The Bison will compete next at the University of Minnesota's Jack Johnson Classic on Jan. 30-31.
