Bison Women Add Potential NCAA Prelims Qualifying Marks at Home Meet Friday

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team posted several potential qualifying performances for the NCAA Preliminary Rounds on Friday at the Lyle Hokanson Classic in Fargo. The Bison claimed nine event titles overall.
Sophomore Morgan Milbrath clocked a personal-best of 59.14 to win the 400m hurdles and rank fifth in NDSU history. Senior Ashley Heinze ran a season-best 59.37 for runner-up honors. Including junior Melissa Kitching who did not compete on Friday, all three now rank among the top 30 in the NCAA West region and the top 55 in the NCAA this season.
NDSU sophomore Amy Andrushko went sub-2:09 in the 800m for the first time in her career, finishing in 2:08.55 for first place. She is now ninth-fastest in school history in the 800m and likely earned a spot at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds as one of the top 48 in the West this season.
Senior Emily Lesser won the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 195-9 (59.66m), ranking her 38th in the NCAA this year. Sophomore Lexy Boschee cleared a lifetime-best 5-09.25 (1.76m) to win the high jump, tying her for fourth-best all-time at NDSU and potentially earning a spot at the NCAA Preliminary Rounds.
Freshman Alexis Woods registered a big PR in the 400m dash, taking first place in 55.23. The Parshall, N.D., native now stands at No. 9 all-time at NDSU in the outdoor 400m.
Bison junior Brittany Stangl cleared a personal-best 12-07.50 (3.85m) in the pole vault for the win. She now ranks fourth all-time at NDSU in the event.
NDSU freshman Kelsey Laufenberg won the shot put title with a throw of 47-03.00 (14.40m). Sophomore Deidre Hahn won the 200m dash in a personal-best time of 24.47 that falls just outside the Bison all-time top 10 list.
NDSU finished 2-3 in the women's javelin with freshman Alyssa Olin and junior Amber Riopelle. Olin recorded her second-best javelin throw of the season at 147-8 (45.02m), and Riopelle posted a season-best of 140-8 (42.89m).
Sophomore Jenny Guibert ran 2:10.29 in the 800m for third place, trimming more than a second off her previous best time.
At the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D., sophomore Taylor Janssen won the 3,000m steeplechase title in 10:48.07. She is ranked fourth in The Summit League this season in the event.
The Bison will travel to Macomb, Ill., for the Summit League Outdoor Championships on May 13-15.
