MACOMB, Ill. – One of the nation's most dominant track & field programs began the defense of its conference title streak on Wednesday, as the North Dakota State women started competition at the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held at Hanson Field.
The Bison women picked up right where they left off on their streak of seven straight Summit League outdoor team championships and 15 consecutive trophies overall – winning individual titles and scoring points in bunches.
Through four events on the first day of competition, the Bison women lead with 62.5 points. South Dakota is second with 59.5 points.
Bison sophomore Courtney Pasiowitz opened the day with a championship in the hammer throw, leading an NDSU sweep of the top three places. Pasiowitz recorded a personal-best throw of 194-1 (59.15m) that ranks her second in school history and likely qualifies her for the NCAA Preliminary Rounds.

Bison freshman Hannah Frost threw a PR of 174-6 (53.19m) to place sixth and rank eighth in NDSU history. In all, the Bison women scored 27 points in the opening event.
Junior Sierra Rosenau won her second consecutive league crown in the javelin to extend NDSU's early margin in the team race. Rosenau posted a mark of 162-3 (49.45m) for the win, and freshman Alyssa Olin earned a runner-up finish with a lifetime-best by over six feet – 156-2 (47.61m). Junior Amber Riopelle finished fourth, giving the Bison 23 more team points from the event.
Junior Brittany Stangl cleared 12-10.00 (3.91m) in the pole vault to tie for fourth place, making her the third-best in NDSU outdoor history. Anna Benke placed sixth at 12-04.00 (3.76m)
Senior Heidi Peterson capped the day with a fourth-place finish in the 10,000m, crossing the line in 37:02.41.
