Lesser, Teschuk, Jackson Win Titles as NDSU Women Extend Lead at Summit Championships

MACOMB, Ill. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team added three more individual titles on the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships and extended its lead in the team race going into the final day.
The seven-time defending champion Bison have 153 points through nine completed events. South Dakota stands in second with 94 points, and South Dakota State is third with 52.
Senior Emily Lesser recorded arguably the most impressive performance of the day, capturing the league title in the shot put with a school-record throw of 54-02.00 (16.51m). Lesser is tied for 21st in the NCAA after adding another 17 inches to her previous school record mark.
The NDSU women placed five in the shot put. Behind Lesser, Courtney Pasiowitz took second, Katelyn Weimerskirch was fourth, Kelsey Laufenberg placed fifth and Jordyn Thornton finished sixth. Pasiowitz posted a mark of 50-03.50 (15.33m), and Weimerskirch threw a career-best 48-01.75 (14.67m) to rank seventh in NDSU history.
Junior Erin Teschuk won her second straight Summit League title in the 3,000m steeplechase, leading a dominant showing that saw the Bison sweep the top three places. Teschuk won in 10:03.56, senior Maddie Van Beek was the runner-up in 10:18.21, and sophomore Taylor Janssen placed third in 10:50.30.
Sophomore Rose Jackson led a group of Bison women to a 1-2-4-5 finish in the heptathlon, winning her first Summit League individual title with 4,737 points. Lexy Boschee was the runner-up with a score of 4,689 points, and Ann Govig and Jaelin Beachy took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Jackson is the first Bison to win the Summit League heptathlon crown since All-Americans Heather Zander and Whitney Carlson combined to win three in a row from 2009-11.
After taking second in the heptathlon, Boschee ran a 100m hurdles personal-best of 14.50 seconds to be the second-fastest qualifier to tomorrow's final, as well as placing fourth in the high jump (5-05.25) and eighth in the long jump (17-11.50).
Junior Ann Govig cleared 5-05.25 (1.66m) in the high jump to tie for fifth place.
In addition to the final events contested on Thursday, the Bison women also put themselves in position to score big on the track on Friday. NDSU moved three into the 400m dash final – Morgan Milbrath (55.20), Deidre Hahn (56.10) and Alexis Woods (56.37). Melissa Kitching (1:00.74) and Ashley Heinze (1:01.33) are the two fastest qualifiers to the final in the 400m hurdles.
Jackson and Milbrath both advanced to the 200m dash final, and sophomore Amy Andrushko cruised to one of the top qualifying spots in the 800m. Beachy will join Boschee in the 100m hurdles final.
Redshirt freshman Dustlynn Kaine clocked a personal-best time of 12.18 seconds in the 100m dash to earn a spot in Friday's final.
The Summit League Outdoor Championships will conclude on Friday, starting with the women's discus and triple jump at 11 a.m.
