Bison Track & Field to Open 2016 Outdoor Season at Arizona State this Weekend

The North Dakota State women's and men's track & field teams will open the 2016 outdoor season at the Baldy Castillo Invitational hosted by Arizona State University on Mar. 18-19.
Teams expected to compete include Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Kentucky, Long Beach State, NDSU, UC Riverside, Utah, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas A&M and host Arizona State.
Competition begins at 3:40 p.m. (CT) / 1:40 p.m. local on Friday, Mar. 18, with the women's hammer throw, and the men's hammer throw is scheduled to follow. On Saturday, events begin with the women's discus at noon CT / 10 a.m. local, and running events start at 3 p.m. CT.
The Bison women will only compete in the throwing events at the Baldy Castillo Invitational, while the NDSU men will compete in wider variety of events including the sprints, hurdles, relays and throws.
The NDSU women and men were both picked to win Summit League outdoor team titles in the league's preseason poll. The Bison women have won eight straight team championships, while the men have won seven of eight and six consecutive crowns.
