The North Dakota State University men's and women's track & field teams will travel to Riverside, Calif., this week to compete at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic from March 24-26. Twelve teams are scheduled to compete at the meet as the Bison continue their transition into the outdoor season.
UC Riverside will host Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Cornell, Long Beach State, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, UNLV and Wyoming.
The decathlon and heptathlon begin on Thursday, March 24, with the decathlon beginning at 1 p.m. CT and the heptathlon starting at 2 p.m. CT. The second day of the decathlon gets underway on Friday, March 25, at 1 p.m., with the heptathlon set to resume at 2 p.m. Also slated for Friday are the women's and men's hammer throw beginning at 5 p.m. CT.
On Saturday, March 26, the field events begin at noon CT with the women's shot put, women's pole vault and men's javelin, while the track events start at 3 p.m. with the women's steeplechase. The last event of the day is the men's 4x400m relay scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
A group of NDSU student-athletes made their 2016 outdoor debuts at Arizona State on March 18-19, where nine Bison throwers posted marks that rank in the nation's top 30 this season.
The NDSU women have won eight straight Summit League outdoor team championships, while the Bison men have won six consecutive team titles and seven in the last eight years.
