North Dakota State senior Erin Teschuk will compete in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships for the second time this weekend in Birmingham, Ala., chasing national titles and All-America honors in a pair of events.
Teschuk will open with the prelims in the mile at 5:45 p.m. (CT) on Friday, March 11, inside the Birmingham CrossPlex. Ten of the 16 competitors – the top four finishers in both preliminary heats, plus the next two fastest times – will advance to Saturday's final at 4:10 p.m.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native will also run the 3,000m final at 6:25 p.m. on Saturday evening.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live on Friday, March 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 12, starting at 4 p.m. A re-air of the meet will take place Sunday, March 13, on ESPN2 from 6-8 p.m. (CT).
Teschuk enters the NCAA Championships ranked fourth in the mile and fifth in the 3,000m for the second consecutive year.
Teschuk is the top returner in the mile from last season's NCAA meet after finishing fifth a year ago. She is one of only three repeat qualifiers in the event.
In the 3,000m, Katrina Coogan of Georgetown is the top returner to the NCAA Championships after placing fourth last season. Coogan enters this year's meet with the eighth-fastest qualifying time.
The top eight finishers this weekend will be named first-team All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), and the next eight will garner second-team All-America status. The NDSU women have seven indoor All-America honors in the Division I era, with Leslie Brost (pole vault, 4th place, 2012) as the highest finisher in school history.
Overall, Teschuk is a four-time All-American with two indoor, one outdoor, and one cross country honor in the last calendar year.
