Rosenau Sets New Javelin Record to Lead NDSU Women at Husker Spring Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior Sierra Rosenau broke her school record in the javelin and moved to No. 15 in the NCAA this season, headlining the achievements of the North Dakota State women's track & field team at the Husker Spring Invite on Saturday.
Rosenau added more than five feet to her NDSU javelin record, throwing 171-1 (52.16m). She earned a runner-up finish in the meet and ranks 15th in the NCAA this year.
Bison junior Katelyn Weimerskirch had an impressive day in the throwing events, winning the hammer throw and discus and setting a new personal-best mark in the shot put. Weimerskirch took first in the hammer throw at 192-5 (58.64m) and later won the discus with a mark of 160-2 (48.81m). She moved up to fourth in NDSU history with an outdoor personal-best of 50-00.00 (15.24m) in the shot put, placing fourth in the meet.
The Bison women finished 1-2-4 in the hammer throw with sophomore Hannah Frost as the runner-up.
Freshman Maddy Nilles recorded her third personal-best in three meets in the hammer, throwing 174-6 (53.19m) for fourth place.
Courtney Pasiowitz, Weimerskirch, Shelby Gunnells and Kelsey Laufenberg finished 2-4-6-7 in the shot put. Pasiowitz threw 50-11.50 (15.53m) to lead the way, coming only four inches short of the mark that ranks her second all-time at NDSU.
Junior Anna Benke cleared the second-best outdoor height of her career in the pole vault for second place in the meet, 12-11.00 (3.94m). Senior Brittany Stangl took third at 12-05.25 (3.79m).
NDSU freshman Kayla Huhnerkoch finished second in the 1500m, running 4:37.93. Junior Darian Winslow was third in 4:39.86.
Sophomore Alyssa Olin took fifth in the javelin with a throw of 153-1 (46.67m).
The Bison women will travel to southern California next week to compete in several meets, including the Mt. SAC Relays.
