FARGO, N.D.--The North Dakota State University softball team will be hosting its 2018 Winter Clinics -- Pitching, Catching All Skills and Slapping for players grades 6-12 -- on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at the Dacotah Field Bubble, 1310 17th Ave. N.

The NDSU softball winter clinics, led by head coach Darren Mueller, allows players to come, learn new skills and sharpen old ones. Come see what skills are taught and worked on during the Bison softball season to ensure player improvement and team success. This clinic is open to any and all entrants (limited by number, age, grade level and/or gender).

Clinic descriptions, time, cost:

Pitching Clinic (9 a.m.-12 p.m., $90)
This clinic will break down the pitching motion and present the drills necessary to increase consistency, speed and effectiveness. Coaches will also introduce different pitches (based on skill level), teaching the correct technique, fundamentals, and drills essential for throwing them. Pitchers must provide their own catchers (Non-attendee of catching clinic).

Catching Clinic (9 a.m.-12 p.m., $90)
This catching clinic will introduce drills that will sharpen your game behind the plate. Improve your skills in receiving, blocking, throwing and footwork. Catchers will have the opportunity to catch pitchers at the end of the session. Former NDSU Bison all-region catcher Alyssa Reina will be the leader instructor. Catchers must provide their own gear.

Slapping Clinic (10 a.m.-12 p.m., $60)
Slapping is a great tool to incorporate into your game if you have speed and good hand-eye coordination. When executed correctly, it can be almost impossible to defend. In this clinic we will break down the slap footwork and handwork, as well as introduce different kinds of slaps like the hard/power slap, soft slap, and drag bunt.

All Skills Clinic (1-4 p.m., $90)
Offensive and defensive skills and strategies will be the main focus of the All Skills Clinic. This clinic is ideal for softball players who are ready to develop their abilities to play at the next level. Whether you are beginning your competitive experience or moving up in age for travel ball, high school, or even college, this camp will take the basic game fundamentals to a more advanced level.

Items to Bring
We recommend all participants wear only TENNIS SHOES because we will be inside on a turf field; NO CLEATS. Participants must provide their own glove, make sure your full name is on your personal equipment. Catchers bring a full set of catching gear. Please bring no gum or sunflower seed inside on the turf as well.

Parents and Coaches
Parents and coaches are welcome to observe any and all camp sessions. To insure everybody's safety, we ask that parents and coaches maintain proper distance from camp activities, and also refrain from interrupting sessions in progress. Camp staff welcomes the opportunity to discuss camp activities during breaks with parents and coaches.

No refunds after Jan. 20, 2018, except with written notice from a physician starting that the athlete is physically unable to participate in the camp. All refunds will incur a 10-percent administration fee which will be deducted from the refund amount.

Individuals with disabilities are invited to request reasonable accommodations to participate in NDSU sponsored programs and events. To request an accommodation or have questions about the clinics, contact Beth Spoehr at (701) 231-5754 or email elizabeth.spoehr@ndsu.edu by Jan. 20 to make arrangements.
