NDSU's longest-running streak of championships will attempt to add one more this weekend, as the Bison women's track & field team travels to the Summit League Indoor Championships in Brookings, S.D., this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25.
The NDSU women enter the 2017 conference meet with nine straight indoor team titles and 18 straight championships overall, including outdoor. Since joining The Summit League for the 2007-08 season, the Bison have never walked away from the conference meet without a first-place trophy.
The meet begins with multi-events action at 9:30 a.m. both days. Running events begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
NDSU enters the meet with league leaders in seven of the 17 events, with four Bison seniors leading the way. Rose Jackson tops the performance lists in the 200m dash and pentathlon, Morgan Milbrath leads the 400m, Amy Andrushko leads the 800m, and Katelyn Weimerskirch is No. 1 in the weight throw.
NDSU also has the top qualifying times in both the 4x400m relay and distance medley relay.
Weimerskirch will attempt to win her third consecutive indoor crown in the weight throw. Andrushko (800m) and junior Courtney Pasiowitz (shot put) will aim to defend their individual titles from one year ago.
The Bison women hope to score large amounts of team points in several events, including the 400m dash, where NDSU has the four fastest women in the league this year with Milbrath, Alexis Woods, Jackson and Tara Smart. The Bison women also have six of the top eight performers in The Summit League in the shot put and weight throw.
GoBison.com will have video highlights and complete updates at the conclusion of each day of competition. Live updates on placing and team scoring can be found on Twitter at @NDSUTrackField.
