NDSU Blanks Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4-0 at Ragin’ Cajun Invitational

LAFAYETTE, La. – Jacquelyn Sertic fired her fourth shutout of the season as North Dakota State defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4-0 on Sunday, March 5, to close out play at the Ragin' Cajun Invitational at Lamson Park.
NDSU (6-13) is scheduled to play Manhattan College (1-4) at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, in the first game of the Stetson University Westin Invitational in Deland, Fla.
Sertic, a right-hander from Sparks, Nev., scattered a pair of hits to complete her second shutout of the tournament against Texas A&M Corpus Christi (5-12) with nine strikeouts and three walks. She improved to 5-9 on the season and has 12 career shutouts.
North Dakota State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Vanessa Anderson singled up the middle to score Madyson Camacho. Anderson then scored on an Islanders' fielding error on the same play.
NDSU extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third. Camacho scored her second run of the game on a Montana DeCamp fielder's choice to the shortstop.
The Bison closed out the scoring in the fourth inning when Dani Renner drilled the first pitch of the frame down the left field line for her first home run of the season and third of her career. Stephanie Soriano had the other hit for NDSU.
Kandace Johnson (1-6) picked up the loss for Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Johnson allowed four hits, struck out three and walked one. Mackinzee Griebel and Liz Carter had the base hits for the Islanders.
