STANFORD, Calif. – The North Dakota State women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday, with a homegrown freshman headlining the performances by the Bison women.
Freshman Kari Wolfe (Harvey, N.D.) unleashed a huge throw to win the collegiate section of the javelin at Stanford – a mark of 170-0 (51.82m) which ranks her third in NDSU history. Wolfe also now stands in the top 15 in the NCAA early this season.
With Alyssa Olin (Mott, N.D.) at No. 1, Sierra Rosenau (Carrington, N.D.) at No. 2, and Kayla Hochhalter (Carrington, N.D.) at No. 4, the top four javelin throwers in NDSU women's history are now all North Dakota Class B products.
Bison junior Maddy Nilles placed fourth in elite sections of both the discus (170-4 / 51.92m) and hammer throw (203-2 / 61.92m) at the Stanford Invitational. Sophomore Bailey Retzlaff threw 154-9 (47.16m) for third place in her section of the discus.
Senior Alexis Woods ran 24.53 in the 200m for an 11th-place finish.
At the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in Hayward, Calif., freshman Peyton Frolek (2:11.58) and junior Katie Bostrom (2:12.77) both ran 800m personal bests.
Bison sophomore Paige Harris finished fifth in the 400m in a personal-best 58.12. Senior Jaelin Beachy recorded her third straight 100m hurdles race under 15 seconds this season, crossing the line in 14.97 for sixth place.
