Bison Men Capture 10th Consecutive Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Title

MACOMB, Ill. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team has claimed its 10th consecutive Summit League outdoor team championship and its 11th in 12 years.
 
The Bison men racked up 272 points – 13 more than last season. South Dakota State finished second with 230 points, and South Dakota was third with 155.5.
 
NDSU head coach Don Larson has now directed his track & field and cross country teams to 58 conference team championships over his 40-year career.
 
Bison senior and NCAA champion Payton Otterdahl clinched the team title with a victory in the discus on Friday afternoon. He was named the Field MVP of the Championships with 23 points scored in the throwing events.
 
Sophomore Connor Wendel was the other Bison to win a Summit League title on Friday, taking the 400m hurdles crown in a career-best time of 53.13.
 
Senior Kelle'Mon Hinton broke the 50-foot barrier in the triple jump for the first time in his career, leaping 50-04.50 (15.35m) for second place. He now ranks third all-time at NDSU in the event.
 
Decathlon runner-up Ryan Enerson also earned a runner-up finish in the 110m hurdles, running 14.57.
 
The Bison men finished second in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. J.T. Butler, Alex Brosseau, Brandon Lewis and Ben Klimpke clocked 41.36 in the 4x100m relay. Butler, Cody Roder, Jacob Rodin and Jacob Richter took silver in the 4x400m relay, running 3:13.56.
 
Butler also placed third in the 200m dash (21.36) and fourth in the 100m dash (10.66). Brosseau was fifth in the 200m and eighth in the 100m.
 
Alex Bartholomay, Tim Heikkila and Camron Roehl finished 3-4-5 in the 1500m to score 15 team points.
 
Freshman Josh Knutson took third place in the 400m hurdles behind Wendel, running a personal-best 53.49.
 
Richter led the Bison men to a 4-5-6 finish in the 400m dash, running a career best 47.79 for fourth place. Roder was fifth, and Rodin was sixth. Freshman Beau Brannan placed fourth in the 800m with his second-fastest time of the season at 1:53.26.
 
Freshman Samuel Moore placed fourth in the discus for his conference meet debut.
 
In the 5000m, junior Elliott Stone finished fifth and Camron Roehl placed seventh.
