Shoultz Earns 1st Team NFCA All-Midwest Region Honors, NDSU Places Four Overall

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Dakota State center fielder Katie Shoultz was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region first team, while pitcher KK Leddy and catcher Maddie Hansen landed second-team honors and designated player Cara Beatty was a third-team pick.
North Dakota State (42-14) is scheduled to open NCAA Regional play against host and No. 7 seed Minnesota (41-12) at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium in Minneapolis.
Shoultz, a senior from Muscatine, Iowa, leads NDSU with a .395 batting average with 40 runs scored and 26 stolen bases. She was named the Summit League Player of the Year and led the Bison with 19 multi-hit games. Shoultz ranks among the NCAA active career top 20 in stolen bases. She has made no errors in 66 fielding chances including four assists.
Leddy, a senior right-hander from Middleburg, Fla., compiled a 22-8 with 2.22 earned run average, 10 shutouts and three saves. She was named the Summit League Pitcher of the Year and recorded her first collegiate career no-hitter on April 14, 2019, against South Dakota State. Leddy, who recorded three one-hitters, struck out 174 and walked 61 in 186.1 innings pitched.
Hansen, senior from Ely, Iowa, is hitting .336 with a team-high 12 home runs, 10 doubles and 45 RBI. She was an all-Summit League first-team and an all-tournament selection this season. Including her two seasons at Kirkwood Community College, Hansen has hit 51 home runs in her career. She has a team-high 11 multi-RBI games.
Beatty, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nev., started all 56 games in the DP position and hit .303 with 10 home runs, 34 runs scored and 41 RBI. She finished with a .564 slugging percentage with nine doubles and a pair of triples.
