Ukkelberg, Otterdahl, Roehl Win Summit League Titles on Day Two

MACOMB, Ill. – Tony Ukkelberg, Payton Otterdahl and Camron Roehl captured event titles to headline the performances of the North Dakota State men's track & field team on the second day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships.
With 7 of 21 events completed through the first two days of the meet, NDSU leads the team standings by a sizeable 83-point margin. The Bison have 131 points, South Dakota State is second with 48, and South Dakota is third with 21.
Otterdahl defended his Summit League shot put title, as the Bison men swept the top three places in the event. Ukkelberg and Roehl both earned their first career Summit League crowns, with Ukkelberg winning the decathlon and Roehl taking the 3000m steeplechase.
Freshman Kristoffer Thomsen finished second in the shot put with a throw of 62-03.75 (18.99m), and sophomore Alex Talley was third at 62-01.00 (18.92m). Junior Michael Keogan placed fifth with a PR of 60-04.75 (18.41m). The Bison men totaled 28 team points in the shot put.
Ukkelberg led a Bison sweep of the top three places in the decathlon, scoring 7,155 points to rank eighth in NDSU history and No. 32 in the NCAA this season.
NDSU added 28 team points in the decathlon with a 1-2-3-6-8 finish. Senior Ryan Enerson was the runner-up at 7,078, and Ben Klimpke was third at 6,722. Daniel Asa finished sixth, and Tyler Enerson was eighth.
The Bison men finished 1-3-6 in the steeplechase with Roehl winning in 9:10.54. Alex Bartholomay took third in 9:18.33. Connor Schank ran a four-second personal best of 9:26.06 for sixth.
Redshirt freshman Brandon Lewis (24-00.75) and Klimpke (23-10.25) finished third and fourth in the long jump. Ukkelberg took seventh at 23-01.25, and Kelle'Mon Hinton was eighth at 22-11.75.
In the 10,000m, junior Elliott Stone placed third and Evan Kottsick took fifth. Stone ran 31:44.85 for the second-fastest 10k of his career, and Kottsick clocked 32:01.26 for his 10k debut.
In addition to the finals held on Thursday, NDSU positioned itself for big points in the track finals scheduled for Friday.
Senior J.T. Butler and sophomore Alex Brosseau both qualified for the finals of the 100m and 200m. Brosseau ran a personal-best 10.86 in the 100m.
The Bison men sent all three entries through to the 400m dash final – Jacob Rodin in 48.71, Jacob Richter in 48.76, and Cody Roder in 48.98. Sophomore Connor Wendel (54.34) and freshman Josh Knutson (54.80) both advanced to the 400m hurdles final.
Freshman Beau Brannan advanced to tomorrow's 800m final, running 1:55.27 in the prelims. After his runner-up finish in the decathlon, Ryan Enerson came back to qualify for the 110m hurdles final in 14.80.
