NDSU Softball Adds Washington Transfer Mac Schulz to Newcomer List

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University head softball coach Darren Mueller announced the addition of University of Washington transfer, left-handed pitcher Mac Schulz (pronounced shulzz), who has been accepted to NDSU and will play softball beginning in the fall of 2019.
 
Schulz joins freshmen outfielder Dez Cardenas (Huffman, Texas / Hargrave H.S.), shortstop Kara Diaz (Indio, Calif. / Shadow Hills H.S.), shortstop Skylar Padgett (Grants Pass, Ore. / Grants Pass H.S.), pitcher Lainey Lyle (Middleton, Idaho / Middleton H.S.), and catcher Kaylee Moore (Cave Creek, Ariz. / Ayala H.S. Calif.).

FRESHMAN (Washington): Redshirt in Washington program.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Pitched and played first base for Monroe High School team coached by Mike Birch … Four-year starter … The Bearcats placed second in the state in 2018 and third in 2017 … She fanned 29 batters over two games in 2015.
 
SUMMER LEAGUE: Played for Northwest Bullets club team coached by Tony Campos … Bullets placed 17th at PGF Nationals … Teammates with incoming NDSU player Skylar Padgett.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Brad and Denise Schulz … Has one brother, Hunter … College major is criminal justice with a minor in psychology … Wants to become a criminal lawyer.
 
North Dakota State finished the season with a 42-16 record. NDSU won its eighth regular season and 10th tournament championship to advance to the NCAA tournament.
