The North Dakota State women's track & field team travels to the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday, Feb. 27, and Sunday, Feb. 28, in Brookings, S.D.
The Bison will be attempting to extend one of the nation's longest-running championship streaks. The NDSU women enter the 2021 conference meet with 13 straight indoor team titles and 25 straight championships overall, including outdoor.
The meet begins with multi-events action at 9:30 a.m. both days. Running events begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
NDSU enters the meet with league leaders in five events this season, led by junior Jodi Lipp who tops the league performance list in the long jump and triple jump. The Bison also have the top performers in the 800m (Peyton Frolek), mile (Kelby Anderson), and shot put (Akealy Moton). NDSU won both the 4x400m relay and distance medley relay last season, and will attempt to defend those crowns this weekend.
The Bison have the potential to score big in the long jump, with three of the league's top four performers this season wearing the green and gold. NDSU also brings the top three women in the shot put – and four of the top six in the weight throw – into the meet.
The Bison women were voted as preseason favorites to win the indoor team title once again, and pre-meet rankings have South Dakota as the top contender along with NDSU. Last year, the Bison topped the Coyotes, 213-148.
