FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State and Oral Roberts split a Summit League baseball doubleheader Saturday at Newman Outdoor Field, as the Bison won the opener 14-11 before Oral Roberts took the nightcap 18-2.
After the split, NDSU moved to 23-10 overall and 12-7 in league play, while Oral Roberts is 16-18 overall and 7-4 in league play. The two teams are scheduled to play the series finale on Sunday, with first pitch at 1 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.

Calen Schwabe each had two hits in the opener. Malec and Schwabe scored three times each, while Hostetler,
Charley Hesse and Koep each scored twice. Schwabe drove in three runs, while Malec, Hostetler and
Tucker Rohde each drove in a pair.
Ben Smith picked up the win on the mound in five innings of work, as he improved to 6-2 on the year, Smith allowed six runs (four earned) on 10 hits and two walks, while striking out two.
Tristen Roehrich struck out a pair, while allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk in 2.2 innings.
Wyatt Nelson earned his sixth save of the season in 1.1 innings of work, as he struck out four and allowed a hit and a walk.
NDSU scored a run in the first inning before exploding for five runs in the second inning. After Oral Roberts scored in the top of the third, NDSU added five more in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a two-run home run by
Jake Malec. Oral Roberts scored five runs in the fifth inning, but NDSU answered with a pair in the bottom of the fifth. Oral Roberts added a solo home run in the sixth and four runs in the top of the eighth before NDSU scored the final run in the bottom of the eight on an RBI single to left field by
Jack Simonsen.
Malec had two hits to lead the Bison in the nightcap, as he extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Hostetler moved into fifth in school history in games played with 197 and games started with 192. He also moved into third in career at-bats with 714.
Evan Sankey suffered his first loss of the year on the mound, as he dropped to 5-1 in 3.1 innings of work. Sankey allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits and two walks, while striking out three.
Thomas Bruchu struck out three in the final 1.2 innings.
Oral Roberts opened a 5-0 lead in the first two innings before NDSU scored in the third on an RBI single by Brookshaw. The Golden Eagles scored 13-straight runs before Koep hit a home run in the sixth inning, his third of the season.
