Bison Distance Runners Get Started at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State women's track & field team opened its weekend at the Drake Relays with competition in the distance events on Thursday evening.
 
NDSU's Peyton Frolek clocked the second-fastest outdoor 800m of her career, running 2:10.34 to take fifth place in the unseeded section of the event.
 
In her first meet action since December, Bison junior Kelby Anderson clocked a strong 1500m time of 4:29.29. Freshman Kaleesa Houston knocked another three-plus seconds off her personal-best in the 1500m, running 4:33.87.
 
NDSU senior Alaysia Freetly ran the second-fastest 3000m steeplechase of her career, finishing in 11:04.10.
 
Bison junior Jen Dufner placed 19th in the 10,000m, finishing in 38:08.64.
 
Thursday's collegiate competition was limited to the distance events on the track. The majority of NDSU's entries at the Drake Relays will compete on Friday and Saturday.
