The North Dakota State University men's track & field team will attempt to win its 11th consecutive Summit League outdoor team title at the Summit League Outdoor Championships in Vermillion, S.D., on May 13-15.
Since joining The Summit League prior to the 2008 season, NDSU has won 11 of a possible 12 team championships in outdoor track & field. The Bison won the crown in their first shot in 2008, and then again each year from 2010-19 before the 2020 outdoor season was canceled.
The Bison are joined by Oregon, Liberty and Albany as the only four Division I schools to own current winning streaks of 10 or more outdoor conference titles.
The Bison have current league leaders in seven of the 21 events – Alex Talley in the shot put and hammer throw, Brandon Lewis in the long jump, Maxwell Otterdahl in the discus, Benji Phillips in the javelin, Tony Ukkelberg in the decathlon, and the 4x400m relay.
Talley (hammer) and Ukkelberg (decathlon) will be attempting to defend their outdoor event titles that have stood since 2019.
The NDSU men have four of the top five shot putters in the league this season, and the Bison are also projected to score 20-plus team points in the javelin, long jump and hammer.
