KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The North Dakota State women's soccer team fought off a comeback from Kansas City Friday night to defeat the Roos 3-1 in Summit League play.
With about seven minutes left,
Lavin Douglass won possession in the offensive half and made a solo run at the Kansas City (1-9-3, 0-3-1 Summit League) defense before curling a left footed shot into the top corner to give the Bison (6-6-3, 2-3-0 Summit League) a 2-1 lead and eventual win.
In the final seconds,

The goal from Douglass was her second of the season and also her second game winner, while Goaley chipped in her team-leading fifth goal of the year.
The victory for the Bison moves NDSU into sole possession of fifth in the Summit League Standings among postseason eligible teams with four games to play. The top six in the regular season standings advance to the Summit League Championship.

North Dakota State would nearly double their advantage in the final minute of the first half, as
Kelsey Kallio had a long-range effort sail just wide of the left post.
The first big chance in the second half also came to the Bison in the 56
th minute, as Goaley drew a foul in the penalty area to earn the Bison a kick from the spot. Goaley stepped up and fired a shot just inside the post, but Caldwell made a diving effort to push the shot just wide and keep the game at a one-goal difference.
Kansas City would have a key chance in the 65

However, the hosts would level things in the 77

For the Bison, it is their second-straight win in league play and the fourth multiple-goal victory of the season. It is the first multiple-goal win in a true road game since a 4-2 win at Eastern Washington in September of 2019.
Kansas City led in shots 15-13, while the Bison had the advantage in shots on goal, 7-6. NDSU also had four corner kicks to just two for the hosts.
