Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

NDSU Falls to Oral Roberts 2-0

TULSA, Okla. – The North Dakota State women's soccer team fell to Oral Roberts 2-0 on Sunday in Summit League play at the Case Soccer Complex.

Oral Roberts had the first opportunity of the game in the 10th minute, and it came from the penalty spot. Sophie Nash drew a foul from Ashleigh Heely in the corner of the penalty area and Abril Lucio stepped up and converted the penalty into the bottom right corner.

Oral Roberts would have another opportunity in the 15th minute with a free kick from just outside the penalty area. The initial free kick from Samantha See went into the wall, but the ball came right back to See, who got off another shot that was stopped by Abby Wilkinson.

Despite a couple opportunities midway through the half and a corner kick for the Bison, Jess Hanley would produce the first official shot for NDSU, as she forced a save from Louisa Ramsauer on a free kick in the 35th minute.

The Bison would hold the momentum in the early part of the second half, as Olivia Watson had a couple shots on target before Alicia Nead headed in a cross that was disallowed for offside in the 57th minute.

Seven minutes later, Hanley would have a free kick that went off the crossbar. However, the hosts would capitalize on a counter attack, as Alex Machado scored on the break to double ORU's lead.

The Bison would have a couple of late chances as Olivia Lovick forced a save and Nead would have another shot blocked.

Oral Roberts would lead in shots 13-6, while both teams would get four shots on goal. Wilkinson finished with two saves for the Bison.

North Dakota State will remain on the road next week, but the Bison will stay in North Dakota with just one game. The Bison will make the short trip up I-29 to take on in-state rival North Dakota on Sunday, October 16. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. against the Fighting Hawks at Bronson Field.
