Bison Men’s Track & Field Earns 13 Entries to NCAA West Preliminary Rounds

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team has qualified 13 entries for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, it was announced Thursday. A total of 12 Bison men will compete, including the NDSU 4x400m relay and senior Trevor Otterdahl in a trio of throwing events.
The 12 Bison men advancing to the West Prelims will match the largest contingent in school history. The meet will be hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 25-28 next week.
The NCAA announced the top 48 declared entries in all individual events and the top 24 relay teams in each region on Thursday. The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 8-11.
Otterdahl is the top-ranked Bison entering the meet, standing at No. 8 in the West for the hammer throw and No. 15 for the shot put. Two-time NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier Kristoffer Thomsen is ranked 16th in the shot put this season.
The NDSU men's 4x400m relay qualified for the NCAA Prelims for the second straight year and will enter Friday night's NCAA qualifying race ranked 18th.
