FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – North Dakota State's
Cody Roder and
Jacob Rodin both advanced to the national quarterfinals in their respective events on Wednesday evening at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, headlining the efforts of the Bison men's track & field team.

Roder broke the NDSU school record in the 400m dash for the second straight meet, running 46.18. He advanced 17th-fastest to Friday night's NCAA quarterfinals, where the top 24 men will race for a spot in the top 12.

Rodin clocked an outdoor personal-best of 1:48.86 in the 800m, also advancing in the top 24 to Friday's national quarterfinals. He moved up to No. 3 on the NDSU all-time list in the event.

The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 8-11.

Senior
Trevor Otterdahl finished 14th in the hammer throw at 211-7 (64.50m), missing a qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships by two places and just 18 inches.

Senior
Kristoffer Thomsen led the four Bison men competing in the shot put, registering a season-best 62-06.50 (19.06m) for 15th place. Otterdahl placed 19th,
Levi Rockey took 40th, and
Clayton Hannula finished 45th.

NDSU sophomore
Matt Kraft threw a personal-best 206-8 (63.01m) in the javelin, finishing 23rd after entering the meet ranked 47th in the West.
Benji Phillips threw 201-0 (61.26m) for 29th.

Brandon Lewis posted a mark of 24-00.25 (7.32m) in the long jump to finish 33rd.

Action will continue Thursday at the NCAA West Prelims, with the women holding their first day of competition.
