SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - North Dakota State softball's Carley Goetschius has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Softball Peak Player of the Week for the second straight week, League officials announced on Monday.
Goetschius had a dominant week at the plate, leading the Bison to their 41st Summit League series sweep with three wins over Kansas City. She hit .727 in the series, going 8-for-11 at the plate with a pair of home runs. Goetschius had a season high five RBIs in game one of the series, including a three-run home run. In game two, she added three more RBIs, including a solo home run.
Goetschius also had a walk, finishing with a .750 on base percentage. With her three extra-base hits, the senior slugged 1.364. She finished with eight RBIs and six runs scored. Goetschius accounted for nearly half of the 25 runs, playing a part in 12 total runs over three games.
It's the fifth straight week the Bison have had a peak performer/pitcher, beginning on February 27. Goetschius picks up her second career honor, winning the award in back-to-back weeks. It's the first time a Bison has won back-to-back honors since KK Leddy did in April of 2019.
Goetschius and the rest of the Bison will be back on the road in Summit League play this week, as NDSU travels to Western Illinois for a three-game series on April 1-2.
