NDSU Softball Drops Opener to South Dakota in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State softball dropped its Summit League series opener to South Dakota Friday afternoon, falling 8-0 to the league leading Coyotes at Bowden Field.
South Dakota (17-15, 6-0 Summit League) hit three home runs in the contest, including a 3-run home run in the first to take the lead. They would add a solo shot in the third and tacked on four more runs in the fourth, including a two-run home run to wrap the scoring.
The Bison (21-13, 5-2 Summit League) were held to two hits in the game, both coming in the fourth inning. Emilee Buringa and Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage had both hits, extending personal streaks. Buringa had a leadoff single to extend her reached base streak to 14 games, matching a career high.
Aguilar-Beaucage extended her hit streak to 10 games, the longest of her career. It is the 32nd time a Bison has had a hit streak of at least 10 games in the Division I era.
Paige Vargas picked up the loss, allowing eight runs on five hits in 3.2 innings. Savy Williams recorded the final four outs, allowing just one walk.
North Dakota State will be back in action on Saturday, taking on South Dakota in the final two games of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
