LUBBOCK, Texas – The North Dakota State baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at No. 23 Texas Tech, 8-5, and, 8-3, on Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Ballpark in front of 4,432 fans.

Texas Tech (22-10, 4-5 Big 12) used a four-run fourth inning to secure an 8-5 win over NDSU (8-22, 4-2 Summit) in game one. Following three scoreless innings to begin the contest, the Red Raiders plated four runs on three hits to open up a 4-0 lead after a two-run home run off the bat of Zac Vooletich.

Texas Tech continued to surge tacking on another run in fifth after an RBI single from Kevin Bazzell to extend their lead to 5-0. James Dunlap got the Bison on the scoreboard with an RBI ground out to make the score 5-1 in the sixth inning. The Red Raiders answered in the bottom half pushing across three runs on two hits to increase their edge to 8-1 following a two-run double from Bazzell.

Dallan Quigley sparked a late rally with an RBI single to make the score 8-2 in the seventh. NDSU continued to apply pressure into the eighth scoring three runs on three hits to cut the deficit down to three, 8-5. Jack Steil started the frame with a two-run single before Garret Hill followed it up with RBI double to cap the big inning. However, the Bison couldn't cut the lead down any further and dropped the contest, 8-5.

Texas Tech then erupted for four runs on five hits in the fifth inning to steal the lead, 5-2, following a three-run home run to left field from Gavin Kash. Steil attempted to get a rally started in the sixth using a sacrifice fly to score Peter Brookshaw to cut the edge down to 5-3. However, Texas Tech went on score three runs over the final three frames to seal the 8-3 win.

The Bison notched six hits as a team.  Brookshaw led the way going 2-of-4 at the plate with one run.
