FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State Softball team and head coach
Darren Mueller announced the schedule for the 2024 season Thursday afternoon. The schedule features six tournaments and invitationals, along with an 18-game Summit League schedule.
The 53-game schedule includes six home dates in March and April, along with trips to North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and California for tournaments and invitationals. NDSU will play a non-conference series in Las Vegas against UNLV. The Bison are also slated for 11 games against NCAA Tournament teams from 2023.
NDSU will begin the season in North Carolina for two weeks, starting with the UNC Wilmington Tournament on February 9. NDSU will play five games over three days in Wilmington before trips to East Carolina and Duke during the midweek. The Bison will close out the trip with the NC State hosted Wolfpack Classic February 16-18.
North Dakota State will then head to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M Invitational on the final weekend of February and head back south for the Lipscomb hosted Purple/Gold Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee to open up March.
The Bison will close out early season tournaments with a two-week trip to California over spring break. NDSU heads to Santa Clara and San José for the Silicon Valley Classic on March 8-10. The Herd will then travel to Stockton during the midweek to face Pacific on March 12, before heading to Moraga for the Saint Mary's Tournament on March 15-16 in the final games before league play begins.
Summit League play is slated to get underway March 23-24 at Omaha. All Summit League series are slated to be three games with a doubleheader at noon on the first day and a single game on day two at 11 a.m.
The Bison will open the home schedule at Tharaldson Park against St. Thomas on March 29-30, before jumping back into non-conference action one final time, with a trip to Las Vegas to face UNLV on April 6-7 in a three-game series. The Bison will then host South Dakota State on April 13-14, before a trip to Grand Forks on April 20-21 to face North Dakota.
The Bison will wrap up the season, first with the home finale on April 27-28 against Kansas City, before a trip to Vermillion to face South Dakota to close out the regular season on May 3-4.
The 2023 Summit League Softball Championship will take place May 8-11 at the Jackrabbit Softball Stadium in Brookings, S.D. The winner of the Summit League Championship receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
