NDSU Baseball Drops Series Finale Against South Dakota State

South Dakota State (18-26, 9-11 Summit) pushed across three runs in the first inning with an RBI double from Luke Luskey and a two-run double from Dayton Franke to make the score 3-0. Kyle Law answered for NDSU (10-28, 6-12 Summit) with a solo home run to right field to cut the edge to 3-1 in the second frame.
Luskey responded for the Jackrabbits with both a two-run home run in the third and a grand slam in the fourth to push the lead to 9-1. The Bison then plated five unanswered runs, including four in the sixth to cut the deficit down to 9-6 with a two RBI double from Caleb Corbin. However, NDSU wasn't able to trim the edge down any further over the final three frames and went on to drop the contest, 16-10.
The Bison totaled 13 hits as a team with Diego Trujillo posting a season-best four in five appearances with two RBI and one run. Blake Timmons also posted his first home run of the season in the fifth inning.
Jonah Walker (2-4) made the start with three strikeouts over 3.2 innings. Ethan Swaby closed out the final frame with two strikeouts.
NDSU will be back in action against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in exhibition play on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m., at Newman Outdoor Field.
