2018 SEASON (SENIOR): Played in 13 of 15 games...Made one start at South Dakota...Finished with 27 tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks...Credited with three pass breakups and two quarterback hurries...Recovered a fumble in the win over Delaware and forced a fumble in the NCAA playoff win over Montana State...Made a season-high five tackles in the win over Southern Illinois.

2017 SEASON (JUNIOR): Played in all 15 games including 14 starts at defensive end...Second on the team with 10.5 tackles for loss and was third with 5.0 sacks...NDSU's fifth-leading tackler with 53 stops...Tied a career high with six tackles in the NCAA quarterfinal win over Wofford...Had two sacks in the win over Northern Iowa.

2016 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 14 games on the defensive line...Totaled 16 tackles including 5.0 sacks...Had two sacks in the homecoming win over Illinois State...Picked up three sacks in the NCAA playoffs including two in the quarterfinal win over South Dakota State...Season-high four tackles in the national semifinal loss to James Madison.

2015 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Played in 13 of 15 games as part of the rotation at defensive end...Finished with 15 tackles including 3.0 tackles for loss...Picked up a sack in the Western Illinois win...Made a career-high six stops in the victory over Missouri State...Recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown on the opening drive of that game.

2014 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt in the Bison program.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2014 from Blaine High School...Three-year starter under coaches Shannon Garrety and Tom Develice...Played left tackle and middle linebacker and had 237 career tackles...Conference Defensive MVP and second-team All-Metro in 2012 and 2013...Second team Associated Press all-state in 2013...Also lettered in wrestling and track and field...Had 115 career wins on the mat...Three-time all-conference wrestler...Fourth-place finisher at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament in 2014...Conference champion in the 110-meter hurdles (14.92 seconds) and shot put (52 feet, 5.5 inches)...Third at the state meet in the discus throw (164-1).

PERSONAL: Majoring in university studies...Son of James Butler of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Kimberly Ann of St. Paul, Minn...Family includes three sisters and two brothers.
