IN HIS CAREER: Scout team cornerback...Joined the Bison football program as a walk-on during spring practice in 2015 and appeared in three games over his four seasons...Participated in two home games against Mississippi Valley State and Robert Morris as a junior in 2017...Also played in the regular-season finale against Southern Illinois as a senior in 2018...Four-time Missouri Valley Football Conference honor roll member...Earned the MVFC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2017.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2014 from Mandan High School...Three-year letterman and two-year starter for the Braves under coach Todd Sheldon...Played defensive back, quarterback and running back...Part of a 10-2 Class 3A state semifinal team his sophomore year...Also participated in golf, track, baseball and basketball.

PERSONAL: Graduated from NDSU in December 2018 with a bachelor's degree in finance...Son of Dale and Kaye Effertz of Mandan, N.D...Father played football at Dickinson State...Uncle, Roger Effertz, was a safety for the Bison football team in the early 1970s.
