2007 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Played in five games off the bench...Made his first appearance as pinch runner in the first game at Creighton...Errorless with two assists at third base in the third game of the Creighton road series...Suffered a leg injury in a pinch-running appearance against Valley City State and sat out the rest of the year...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2006 from Central High School in Cheyenne...Part of five state championships in Legion baseball and high school track and football...Two-year starter at second and third base for the Cheyenne American Legion and coach Tagg Lain...All-state first team in 2006 when he hit .389 and stole 76 bases, one shy of the club record...Helped Post 6 to back-to-back Legion state championships in 2005 and 2006, and a runner-up finish at the 2006 Northwest Regional...Four-year indoor track and field letterman in the hurdles, and a three-year letterman in football...Part of team track championships in 2005 and 2006...First-team all-state cornerback on the gridiron in 2005 during that year’s state title run...Set school records with an 89-yard punt return and 12 pass breakups in a season...Finalist for the National Football Congress achievement award...PERSONAL: Majoring in civil engineering...Son of Steven and Cheryl Lovas of Cheyenne...Mother is a graduate of the NDSU pharmacy program...Father played football and tennis at Mayville State...Family includes an older sister, Chelsea...Has three cousins at NDSU.
