Biography

2008 SEASON (SENIOR): Pitched in nine games with one start...Went 0-0 with a 4.87 ERA in 20 1/3 innings...Was part of a combined no-hitter in a loss at Creighton, finishing the game after starter Chad Berg walked four of the first six batters of the game and throwing a wild pitch to make it 2-0...Walked four and struck out one in five innings of work...NDSU had seven hits but left nine runners on base...Paterson faced 18 batters and then started the second game of that doubleheader, lasting 3 1/3 innings with three hits, one walk and two strikeouts before leaving a scoreless game in an eventual 1-0 loss...Also had six plate appearances on the season and went 2-for-6 with two RBIs and one run scored.

2007 SEASON (JUNIOR): Played in 15 games and made 10 starts, including one on the mound in the first game of the Northern Iowa doubleheader (5/8)...Pitched five innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits and five walks, but did not factor in the decision in a 2-1 win...Hit .162 with six hits in 37 at-bats, including two doubles.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Hit .330 with four home runs, 18 RBIs and 25 runs scored in 2005 as a freshman at Barstow Community College...As a relief pitcher, had a 4.40 ERA in 20-plus innings...Sat out his sophomore year to recover from a knee injury.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2003 from East Valley High School in Redlands, Calif...Two-year letterman for coach Steve Hernandez...Hit .600 to lead East Valley to a conference championship his senior year...Hit .520 with two home runs as a junior.

PERSONAL: Graduated from NDSU in August 2008 with a bachelor's degree in university studies...Played in France with the Montigny Cougars, in Australia with the Doncaster Dragons, and in Germany with the Regensberg Legionare...Started his managerial career in 2010 with the Desert Valley Mountain Lions, where he was the youngest manager in professional baseball at age 24...Named Manager of the Year in the Continental Baseball League in 2010 and in the Pecos League in 2011 after leading the expansion Roswell Invaders to a 47-27 record and league championship...Managed the White Sands Pupfish in 2012 and was selected to manage in the Pecos League All-Star Game...Spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in the United League, winning a league championship in 2014 before taking over the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association in 2015... Son of Scott and Debbie Paterson of Yucaipa, Calif...Family includes a brother, Ray, and three sisters, Renae, Scarlet and Reena.
