2007 SEASON (JUNIOR): Started 34 of 38 games played and hit .262...Average jumped to .317 with the bases empty and .484 (15-for-31) in leadoff situations...Hit 4-for-5 against Minnesota in one of his five starts at DH...2006 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Started 43 of 45 games played...Hit .265 with nine multiple-hit games...None was bigger than the pair of two-run singles that lifted NDSU to a 7-3 home win over Minnesota (5/3)...Tied a school record with five hits at the D-I independent tournament against Utah Valley State (5/20)...Finished 5-for-6 with two RBIs and four runs scored...Had an eight-game hitting streak in the first half of April...2005 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Started 34 of 35 games played...Hit .221 with eight RBIs and scored 10 runs...His grand slam at Valparaiso (5/14) broke open a 1-1 tie in the Bison’s 10-9 win...Division I independent Newcomer of the Week (5/17) for his effort...Threw out 4 of 7 Utah Valley State base stealers in the third game of the year...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2004 from Stewartville High...Four-year starter for coach Mark Schmitz...Set school career records for hits (107), walks (50), RBIs (71), slugging percentage (.541) and triples (8), and set the single-season record for on-base percentage (.661)...Three-time all-conference player and an all-state selection in 2004...Also started for two seasons at quarterback for the Stewartville football team and was a starting cornerback for three years...Played Legion baseball in Devils Lake and New Rockford, N.D., before joining the Stewartville Generals Legion program in 2001...Hit .500 or better each of the last two seasons for his coach and father, Herb Hofer...Had 15 extra-base hits including a pair of homers in 2004...Drew 58 walks and struck out only 19 times in three years with the Generals...Three-year letterman in basketball...PERSONAL: Majoring in elementary education and child development/family science with a minor in coaching...Son of Herb and Jan Hofer of Stewartville, Minn...Father is an NDSU graduate...Family includes an older brother, Brooks.
