2007 SEASON (JUNIOR): Action was limited to 6 1/3 innings in three relief appearances due to injury...Had a stress fracture in his throwing elbow...Struck out two batters in each of his games, including three scoreless innings against Chicago State (5/25) at the D-I independent tournament...2006 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): NDSU’s top arm out of the bullpen...Pitched 31 innings in 17 relief stints...Had a 2-2 record with one save and a 6.10 ERA...Continued to display good control of his pitches with just 10 walks against 24 strikeouts...Gave the Bison a chance to win at Kansas (4/11), where he came on to pitch seven innings of one-run ball in a 5-4 loss...Followed that with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings for a win out of the pen at Iowa (4/18) one week later...Collected his other win at home vs. South Dakota State (5/6) despite giving up four earned runs on seven hits in two innings...An NDSU home run and sac fly in the ninth won it 8-7...2005 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Made 21 appearances...His 65 1/3 innings were almost 20 more than any other pitcher on the Bison staff...Struck out 49 batters and demonstrated outstanding control with only 13 walks...Made four starts...Went all nine innings against Concordia-Moorhead (5/2) for his only victory in six decisions...Allowed three runs on six hits, fanned 11 and walked one...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2003 from Moorhead High School...Two-year starter for coach Jim Hurley...Played catcher, outfield and shortstop in addition to his pitching duties...Led the Spuds in batting average with a .367 junior campaign...Compiled a 14-4 record in his last two seasons of Legion baseball for the Moorhead Blues under coach Paul Cragg...Set club records for career strikeouts (232), innings pitched (223), appearances (49) and finished third in wins (18) and ERA (2.54)...Also lettered twice in football...PERSONAL: Majoring in exercise science with a minor in psychology...Assistant coach for the Moorhead Blues American Legion team the last three years...Aspires to be a strength and conditioning coach...Son of Karen Bushland of Moorhead...Has an older brother, Ryan.
