2013 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Sat out the entire season as a redshirt in the Bison program...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2012 from Blaine High School...Two-year starting pitcher and shortstop...Team MVP and all-conference both years...Went 4-3 with two saves and a 2.20 ERA his junior year, striking out 30 batters in 28 2/3 innings...Had a 5-1 record with one save and a 1.05 ERA his senior season with 50 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings...Had a season-best 15 strikeouts in a 2012 section quarterfinal...Selected to the Minnesota Lions All-Star Game...Also earned all-conference honors in basketball...PERSONAL: Son of Ed Schumacher of Burnsville, Minn., and Jodi Schumacher-Melton of Blaine, Minn...Has one sister and two brothers...Majoring in marketing.
