Solid receiver who is a good possession target...Three-year letterman in a hot battle for playing time at the flanker position, but he should see plenty of action...2003 SEASON (JUNIOR): Played in all 11 games, catching four passes for 45 yards...Averaged 11.2 yards per catch and 4.1 yards per game...2002 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Played and started in nine of the 10 games and caught 16 passes for 175 yards and one TD...Missed the North Dakota game after suffering a concussion in the loss at USD...Caught five passes for 62 yards against California-Davis and four passes against both Augustana and Nebraska-Omaha...His lone TD catch came in the UN-Omaha game...2001 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Played in all 10 games and started in three games while finishing as the co-leader in receptions in 2001...Hauled in 24 passes for 344 yards and a pair of TDs...13 of those receptions came in a school single-game, record-tying performance...Grabbed those 13 catches for 102 yards in the loss at MSU-Mankato...The receptions tied a 33-year-old school mark...Caught one TD pass in each of the first two games including an 83-yarder against Western State...Had four receptions against SDSU...2000 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Sat out the 2000 season as a redshirt in the Bison program...HONORS: Honorable mention academic All-NCC in 2002...HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at West High School in Mankato where he was first team all-conference and second team all-state as a senior for the Class 4A state champions...Had 57 catches for 1300 yards and 17 TDs his senior season...Also ran back punts where he brought back four for touchdowns over his career...Averaged 25.3 yards per return on punts and 26.6 ypr on kickoffs...Competed in track & field as well and was a member of the basketball team...PERSONAL: Major field in college is management information services...Enjoys golfing, fishing and hunting in his spare time...Family includes one older sister and two younger brothers...Son of Rich and Mary Wiest of North Mankato...Father ran cross country at Utah State.
