Five-time regular season champion and top-seed North Dakota State (40-9) is scheduled to open Summit League tournament play against the winner of Western Illinois (18-22) and South Dakota State (22-27) at noon Friday, May 8, at the Ellig Sports Complex ... NDSU is 20-5 in six tournament appearances and have won five of six tournament championships (2009-10-11-12, 2014) ... The opening round of the tournament was rained out Wednesday ... North Dakota State University second baseman Cheyenne Garcia was named Summit League Player of the Year, Krista Menke earned the second Pitcher of the Year award, and North Dakota State head coaches Darren Mueller and Jamie Trachsel, assistant Brynne Dordel and graduate assistant manager Kendall Grimm were named Coaching Staff of the Year on May 5 ...
