FARGO, N.D. – Katelyn Weimerskirch shattered the NDSU school record in the weight throw to highlight a day of great performances by the Bison women's track & field team, as NDSU hosted the Thundering Herd Classic and competed at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday.
Weimerskirch set a new school record of 67-03.50 (20.51m) in the weight throw, ranking her 16th in the NCAA this season. She broke the school record by more than two feet and extended her own personal-best by 30 inches.
Weimerskirch (East Dubuque, Ill.) also posted a personal-best throw of 50-11.00 (15.52m) in the shot put, becoming only the third woman in NDSU history to top 50 feet indoors.
At the Iowa State Classic, Morgan Milbrath, Melissa Kitching, Rose Jackson and Alexis Woods ran 3:39.51 to win the 4x400m relay, becoming the second-fastest relay team in NDSU history. The Bison rank 25th on the national performance list in the event.
NDSU junior Amy Andrushko registered an indoor personal-best time of 2:08.31 in the 800m at Iowa State, ranking her ninth in NDSU history and 50th in the country this season.
Junior Dustlynn Kaine won a pair of sprint events at the Thundering Herd Classic, clocking a personal-best of 7.77 seconds to win the 60m dash and taking first in the 200m dash in 25.70. The Plymouth, Minn., native falls just outside the NDSU all-time top 10 list in the 60m dash.
Sophomore thrower Courtney Pasiowitz won the shot put title (51-11.00 / 15.82m) to lead an NDSU sweep of the top seven places in the event. Weimerskirch was second, Shelby Gunnells placed third, and Kelsey Laufenberg took fourth for the Bison.
Laufenberg moved up to sixth all-time at NDSU in the weight throw with a toss of 60-07.25 (18.47m).

"It was another great weekend for Bison track & field," said NDSU women's head coach Stevie Keller. "From the distance ladies on Friday, to the throws, sprints, hurdles and pole vault today, we saw a lot of great progress and some impressive performances."
The Bison women swept the top three places in the 60m hurdles, as NDSU freshman Dakota Wood took the title in 9.16 seconds. Freshman Maea Wall was the runner-up, and Jaelin Beachy was third in a season-best 9.19. Wall clocked a season-best 9.00 seconds in the preliminary round to be the fastest qualifier to the final.
