Teschuk, Weimerskirch Win Titles, Set Records for NDSU Women at Summit League Meet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Erin Teschuk and Katelyn Weimerskirch both won individual titles and set new meet records to highlight the first day of competition for the North Dakota State women's track & field team at the Summit League Indoor Championships on Friday. The Bison women have won eight straight Summit League indoor team titles.
Teschuk captured the 3,000m title in 9:08.79, breaking the previous meet record by more than 23 seconds and moving to No. 6 on the NCAA performance list this season. She lapped every competitor in the field.
Weimerskirch won the weight throw with a meet-record throw of 65-04.00 (19.91m), leading a 1-2-3-5-7 finish by the NDSU women in the event. Sophomore Courtney Pasiowitz was the runner-up at 63-05.50 (19.34m), and Kelsey Laufenberg placed third with a personal-best mark of 60-10.50 (18.55m). Jordyn Thornton took fifth, and freshman Shelby Gunnells finished seventh for the Bison.
The Bison women have 86 points in the team standings after the first day of the meet – twice as many as second-place South Dakota (43). South Dakota State is in third place with 40 points.
The NDSU women finished second, third and fourth in the pentathlon with Amanda Levin, Ann Govig and Rose Jackson, respectively. Levin (3,512 points) and Govig (3,467 points) both posted the second-best point totals of their careers.
Behind Teschuk in the 3,000m, the Bison also received valuable team points from Brittany Brownotter and Taylor Janssen. Brownotter ran a personal-best of 9:46.35, finishing third in the meet and ranking fourth all-time at NDSU in the event. Janssen took sixth place in 9:49.88.
Jenny Guibert, Melissa Kitching, Amy Andrushko and Kayla Huhnerkoch teamed up for a runner-up finish in the distance medley relay. The quartet ran 11:56.50 to rank sixth in NDSU history.
Junior Allie Lahren earned All-Summit League honors with a third-place finish in the long jump, posting a leap of 18-06.00 (5.64m). Senior Lexy Boschee placed fifth at 18-03.00 (5.56m).
In addition to the athletes who scored team points with top-8 finishes on Friday, NDSU also qualified a substantial number of athletes into Saturday's finals.
Morgan Milbrath, Alexis Woods and Melissa Kitching all qualified among the four fastest women to the final of the 400m dash. Milbrath and Woods both also advanced to the 200m final, with Milbrath clocking a season-best 24.97 seconds.
Bison sophomore Deidre Hahn made the finals in the 60m dash and 200m dash.
NDSU moved three athletes into the final round of the 60m hurdles – Dakota Wood (8.89 seconds), Lexy Boschee (8.93) and Maea Wall (9.21).
Andrushko (2:12.67) and Guibert (2:14.90) both advanced to the 800m final, with Andrushko as the fastest qualifier in the field.
Women's competition resumes at 11:30 a.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. CT on Saturday with the triple jump. Running events begin at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT.
