The longest-running streak of championships at North Dakota State University will attempt to add one more this weekend, as the Bison women's track & field team travels to the Summit League Indoor Championships in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Feb. 26-27.
The NDSU women enter the 2016 conference meet with eight straight indoor team titles and 16 straight championships overall, including outdoor.
Since joining The Summit League for the 2007-08 season, the Bison have never walked away from the conference meet without a first-place trophy. The only school in Summit League history to win more than three consecutive league titles in women's indoor track & field, NDSU will go after No. 9 this weekend.
Multi-events action will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET / 8:30 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday inside the IPFW Athletics Center Fieldhouse. Running events start at 2 p.m. CT on Friday and noon CT on Saturday.
The Bison women will look to bring home critical team points in the throwing events, with junior Katelyn Weimerskirch (weight throw) and sophomore Courtney Pasiowitz (shot put) leading the league and ranked among the top 20 in the nation. NDSU has four of the top five performers in the weight throw and five of the league's top seven in the shot put.
In the distance events, NDSU will need to replace two-time Summit League Indoor Championships Track MVP Maddie Van Beek, who won league titles in the 3,000m and 5,000m for the second straight season last year and was also the runner-up in the mile. National title contender Erin Teschuk returns for her fourth and final league indoor meet, and she'll be joined by Taylor Janssen, Brittany Brownotter and Emma Kusch Dahle looking to score points in the distance events.
The Bison hope to score big in the 400m dash once again, as they enter the meet with three of the top four runners in the event this season – Morgan Milbrath, Alexis Woods and Melissa Kitching.
Senior Lexy Boschee and junior Rose Jackson could score points in a variety of events, with Boschee ranked among the league's top three in the 60m hurdles, high jump and pentathlon, and Jackson in the Summit's top three in the long jump and pentathlon. Boschee is the defending champion in the pentathlon.
NDSU has swept the relay titles for the last three years, winning both the 4x400m and distance medley relays every year since 2013.
GoBison.com will have video highlights and complete updates at the conclusion of each day of competition. Live updates on placing and team scoring can be found on Twitter at @NDSUTrackField.
