Nilles Captures Drake Relays Hammer Throw Title for NDSU Women

DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State women's track & field team extended its streak of winning at least one Drake Relays title for the fifth straight season with junior Maddy Nilles taking the hammer throw crown on Saturday.
A Sherrill, Iowa, native, Nilles captured the hammer throw title with a throw of 205-8 (62.69m). The Bison women have now won at least one Drake Relays title each year since 2014.
The quartet of Kayla Huhnerkoch, Katie Bye, Peyton Frolek and Annika Rotvold ran the third-fastest distance medley in NDSU history, finishing in 11:40.85 for eighth place.
Alyssa Lind, Alexis Woods, Frolek and Deidre Hahn clocked 3:42.32 for seventh in the 4x400m – another season-best and Summit League-leading time.
Behind Nilles in the hammer throw, NDSU had sophomore Amy Herrington place ninth at 189-4 (57.71m) and junior Shelby Gunnells take 10th at 188-8 (57.52m).
Freshman Daejha Moss matched her season-best by clearing 5-05.00 (1.65m) in the high jump.
