SACRAMENTO, Calif. – North Dakota State University sophomore Amanda Anderson finished 34th in the discus at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on Friday afternoon.
Anderson's best throw of the day was 160-6 (48.92m) on her final attempt. She ranks second in school history in the discus with a personal-best of 177-11 (54.23m). This was Anderson's second appearance at the NCAA West Prelims.
The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds advance to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on June 5-8. NDSU has already qualified three women in Amanda Levin (heptathlon), Akealy Moton (javelin) and Bailey Retzlaff (hammer throw).
Anderson was the lone Bison women's competitor scheduled for Friday. Five NDSU women will compete on Saturday – Moton, Retzlaff and Maggie Schwarzkopf in the shot put, Bailey DeMar in the triple jump, and Kelby Anderson in the 5,000m.
