DES MOINES, Iowa –
Kristoffer Thomsen and
Brandon Lewis claimed Drake Relays event titles for the North Dakota State men's track & field team on Friday at Drake Stadium.
Thomsen launched an outdoor shot put personal-best 64-01.25 (19.54m) on his final attempt to win the title. He now ranks 11th in the NCAA this season and No. 3 in NDSU history.
Lewis captured the long jump crown on his final attempt, leaping 24-03.75 (7.41m).
Thomsen led a Bison sweep of the top three places in the men's shot put.
Alex Talley was the runner-up with a season-best 63-03.50 (19.29m), and freshman
Maxwell Otterdahl was third at 62-11.50 (19.19m).

Jacob Rodin and
Josh Samyn teamed up to run the second-fastest sprint medley in NDSU history, clocking 3:23.20 for second place.
NDSU's
Benji Phillips placed second in the javelin, throwing 229-2 (69.86m). Freshman
Matt Kraft was sixth at 199-10 (60.91m).
Bison freshman
Adrian Harris clocked a 400m personal-best of 47.30 to take fourth place. He ranks fifth-fastest in NDSU outdoor history.
Maxwell Otterdahl now ranks fourth all-time at NDSU for the discus, throwing 175-7 (53.53m) to place fifth in the meet.
Trevor Otterdahl threw an outdoor shot put PR of 60-01.00 (18.31m) for seventh place, adding 14 inches to his previous outdoor best and ranking 10th in NDSU history.
Trent Davis registered a 400m hurdles personal-best of 53.38, taking fifth place. He also took second in his 110m hurdles prelim heat to advance to Saturday afternoon's final at the Drake Relays.
The Bison men also turned in several significant performances at the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa.

Zach Johnson raced his way to No. 8 on the NDSU all-time list in the 5,000m, clocking 14:31.97.
Freshman
Payton Smith won the 3,000m steeplechase, running a personal-best 9:22.61.
Jakob Hanna clocked the second-fastest 1500m of his career, finishing second in 3:56.68.
