EUGENE, Ore. – The North Dakota State University 4x400m relay team of
Adrian Harris,
Jacob Levin,
Jacob Rodin and
Cody Roder broke the school record at a third straight meet, finishing 18th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday night.
Â
The quartet earned honorable mention All-America status with the 18th-place finish, clocking 3:05.24.
Â
This was the first running event in NDSU's Division I men's history to compete at the NCAA Championships. All previous national meet qualifiers at the Division I level for the Bison had been field events or multi-events.
Â
One month ago, the NDSU outdoor 4x400m relay record stood at 3:07.75 – established in 2004 by Allen Burrell, Jared Essler,
Reece Vega and Marques Johnson.
Â
At the Summit League Championships on May 14, Harris, Levin, Rodin and Roder ran 3:07.18 to claim the record. The squad improved to 3:05.57 at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on May 27, and then trimmed another 0.33 seconds off the NDSU all-time best on Wednesday night at Hayward Field.
Â
Defending national champion North Carolina A&T was the only non-Power Five school to finish ahead of the Bison in the 4x4 at the NCAA Championships.
Â
Roder was clocked at a career-best 45.13 for his anchor leg split.
