MEMPHIS, Tenn. – North Dakota State softball picked up a 7-4 victory over Texas-San Antonio on Sunday at the Memphis Softball Complex to close out the Blues City Classic with its third win of the weekend.
Carley Goetschius had a 4-for-4 day at the plate, while
Reanna Rudd drove in three runs, to lead the way for the Bison offense.
After two scoreless innings, the Roadrunners took the lead in the top of the third as they capitalized on a triple to drive in a run with a single. UTSA would load the bases, but the Bison got out of the jam with limited damage and responded in the bottom half of the inning.
Ella Claus picked up a one-out single and would later come around to score when Goetschius hit an RBI single to left to tie the game at 1-1.
Emilee Buringa then scored on an error and Rudd followed it up with an RBI single to center to score Goetschius and put the Bison up 3-1.
In the fifth inning, the Bison would score three more runs. Goetschius would put runners on second and third with a double after Buringa walked to lead off the inning. Buringa then scored on a passed ball before Rudd added an RBI groundout to score Goetschius for the second time in the game.

Texas-San Antonio cut into the Bison lead with three runs on four hits in the sixth, but NDSU tacked on an insurance run in the bottom half. The Bison loaded the bases and Rudd picked up her third RBI of the game as she reached on an error.
Piper Reed, who entered the game in the sixth, closed out the game with a 5-out save, her first of the season.
Lainey Lyle improved to 4-4 on the season, allowing three runs on nine hits in five innings. Lyle had two strikeouts and Reed finished with one.
The Bison are slated to return to action next weekend at the Gopher Indoor Classic. NDSU will take on Idaho State and host Minnesota on Friday, March 10 in Minneapolis.
